Pickleball tournament to raise funds

Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A growing sport in Broome County hosted its second annual tournament to support the Boys and Girls club.

Pickleball players came from all over the state for a doubles tournament this weekend.

The sport combines tennis, badminton and ping pong and is gaining popularity in the local senior community. But this game is competitive at any age.

"It's good for anybody, at any age," said Jorge Chavez of Endicott. "It's a tremendous cardiovascular workout and it's very nice and easy to learn. You get to meet a lot of nice people and it's enjoyable you get a great workout."

Local teams play up to three times a week at the Boys and Girls Club.

The tournament raised around $1,700 that will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome.
