Greene, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Its no secret that Greene's football coach, Tim Paske, has been suspended indefinitely by the district, but what is a secret is why.

Greene high school was flooded with people tonight, including members of the booster club and football team, all there to support Paske.

More than a dozen fans flocked to Brendan O'Reilly's facebook page last night to say it was the result of the football team absence from the homecoming parade.

Superintendent, Jonathan Retz, said the the suspension is a personnel decision and that he's out for what is expected to be a playoff season for the Trojans.

Interim head coach, Dave Gorton, said, "It's obvious, nobody can fill his shoes. From a football stand point, he's a great coach, he has a great mind and he really understands the game. But emotionally, I think that's even a bigger loss because the kids care so much about him and he cares so much about the kids. And I don't know if I can adequately summarize how important he is to us."

With the season more than half way through and a record of 4 - 2, the players and coaches we spoke with Wednesday night are heartbroken.

But they're determined to maintain Paske's standards.

Co-Captain, Cole Browning, said, "Obviously it's going to have a pretty big impact because he has always been there for us. We're still going to practice hard and play hard, try to focus on. But it is definitely a big loss."

Co-Captain, Chris Kehoe, agrees saying, "i think we need to come together and focus, really bust it out this season."

Kehoe adds, "We can't let something like this punch us in the face, we just have to come out strong."

The trojans are still practicing and will travel to Whitney Point on Saturday to play their first game without Paske.

A facebook page in support of coach Paske has gained more than 500 likes Wednesday afternoon.
