Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) While the hot and humid weather engulfed the Twin Tiers for the second consecutive evening, softball players still hit the diamond Tuesday at Otsiningo Park.

Players pushed through the heat to get their games in before the sun went down.

"You just gotta' drink a lot of water and keep going," said softball player Frank Jones, of Binghamton.

The Action News team caught the first game of a softball double header.

Between innings, players drank plenty of fluids staying hydrated.

Patrick Starks' jersey was drenched in sweat.

"It's hot," said Starks, of Johnson City. "Very hot. I mean there's not a dry spot on me. It's great."

Despite the oppressive heat and humidity, the park was still busy Thursday with people working out and enjoying the weather.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it's important to pace yourself when out in the heat, plan outdoor activities carefully, drink plenty of water, even if you aren't thirsty.
