(WBNG Binghamton) Not every team air it out, but still the man under center is a crucial component to a winning team.
We look at the top quarterbacks in Section 4 this past season.

The Maine-Endwell Spartans dropped down to Class B, but the results were still the same.

A trip to the state title game, and the quarterback of the year award of Kyle Gallagher.

Though the Spartans relied heavily on the ground game, Gallagher made several big throws when he needed to.

He ended up throwing for nearly 700 yards and 10 touchdowns with only 1 interception, while adding another nearly 600 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground.

Not bad numbers for a guy who didn't play as much as some others because he often didn't play in the second half because the Spartans already had to game in hand.

The Waverly Wolverines made it to the sectional title game.

And one of the big reasons was the play of quarterback Zach Cooney, a repeat winner of the quarterback of the year award.

Cooney used a strong arm and quick feet to lead the Waverly offense to an average of 32 points per game.

In Class A, Union-Endicott quarterback Joey Orlando added a potent passing game to the Tigers offensive attack, completing nearly 47 percent of his passes or 12-hundred yards and 18 touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 9 and 2 record and a berth in the state semi-finals.

Unatego's Tyler Butler used a mix of speed and accuracy to earn the quarterback of the year for Class D.

The senior threw for just over 900 yards and 9 touchdowns, while adding 714 yards and 12 more touchdowns on the ground.

And in class AA, the Ithaca Little Red struggled to score points this season and went only 1 and 9, but one of the bright spots was the play of quarterback Julian Tino.

Tino threw for 528 yards and 4 touchdowns this season.
