Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The season of thunder storms and rain has returned to the Twin Tiers.

There's a good chance it's going to rain at some point each day for the next week.

On Thursday night, umbrellas and rain boots, and even makeshift ponchos, were in gear downtown.

Some said they feel optimistic about the wet weather.

"We've had some pretty nice weather recently, so we needed it," said CJ Wachter. "I welcome it."

"As long as it doesn't come down like 2006 and 2011, we're OK," said Jim Fahs. "If you look out west, they're having big problems because they don't have any rain there."

But not everyone feels like singing in the rain.

"It's just wet, you can't get out and do a lot of things," said Alex Fahs. "You can't get out and play baseball and have fun."

"Usually I feel a lot sadder," said Luiza Maciejak. "I don't know why I'm so happy right now. I think it's because my friend gave me this umbrella."

The rainy weather calls for indoor activities. People walking downtown said they have plans for the upcoming week.

"On rainy days, I normally curl up with a book or go outside and decide it's going to be a slip and slide," said Crystal Bruzee.

"I usually watch movies with my friends and try not to go outside," said Maciejak.

"Sometimes I'll go down to the pool hall and I'll play billiards," said Alex Fahs.

They also said they're making sure to not forget their rain gear.

"You should always have a hoodie, you should always have long pants, that's essential to have, and you should have good shoes, so you don't endure my problem and have wet socks," said Tyree Cobbis. "And this umbrella is my best friend."
