Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Veterans of Broome County received some well deserved recognition in downtown Binghamton.

Thursday afternoon was the second annual Veterans of distinction ceremony.

Each individual who received an award at the ceremony was honored for their achievements in the service.

All the recipients are residents of Broome County.

Broome County Legislative Chairman Jerry Marinich said he's excited about the ceremony becoming an annual ritual of honor.

"This year we recognized 17 recipients who were recognized here today, who were recognized as veterans of distinction and we look forward to this for many more years to come," said Marinich.

Legislators also recognized a recent veteran, J. Matthew Barack, who's training to become a Broome County Sheriff's Deputy.
