Windsor, NY (WBNG Binghamton) New York State Police arrested a man in Windsor following an hours long standoff on Monday night.

State Police responded at 3:55 p.m. Monday to 42 Bennett Rd. in Windsor.

They received a report that Jose Gonzalez, 45, threatened two people with a rifle. A neighbor reported hearing a gun shot.

Troopers say 15 to 20 police officers were at the home until almost midnight.

After efforts to negotiate a surrender failed, the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team searched the residence with a robot and cameras.

Unable to locate Gonzalez, they entered the home at approximately 11 p.m. and found Gonzalez hiding in a bedroom closet.

Gonzalez was arraigned in Windsor Town Court on charges of menacing, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon.
