Sayre, PA (WBNG Binghamton) A Bradford County pizza shop rises from the ashes serving up pizza for the first time since last November.
Howie's Pizza and Subs officially reopened Tuesday, exactly nine months after burning to the ground in an overnight fire.
The business rebuilt at the same location at 141 S. Keystone Ave. in Sayre, Pa.
"Rising from the ashes, the Phoenix, that's what we've done," Howie's Pizza and Sub's owner Don Howard said.
The new facility has an open floor plan and a pizza bar connected to the kitchen. But the pizza recipe is the same.
Howard said by Tuesday afternoon, more than 500 people had already enjoyed a slices of pizza.
Howard, who is also the chief of the Waverly-Barton Fire Department, responded to the call of his business burning on Nov. 20, 2012.
Howard says the reopening signifies the support from the community and support from local fire departments.
"The fire department came here yesterday because they were here when the devastation happened, and we wanted them a part of bringing the building back with a new life," Howard said.
Howie's Pizza and Subs hours are: Sunday - Thursday 11 a.m.to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight.
