Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Preparations have begun for a large fundraiser that's back for its 87th year.
The groundwork for the annual Saint John's Ukrainian Festival kicked off Wednesday.
The event is not until Saturday, but church members have been preparing Ukrainian food by the pounds.
By Saturday, 175 pounds of onions and 28 dozen eggs will make up the traditional Ukrainian feast.
There will be hot dogs and hamburgers served as well.
"We have all the traditional foods available, holubtsi, pirohi, kolbasa. Plus the standard hot dogs, hamburgers, spiedies," said Bob Onysko, parishioner.
Ukranian beer will be served to wash down the food.
The church is located on Saint John's Parkway in Johnson City, off of Harry L Drive.
The festivities start at 1 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, the hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
