Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Packing for a winter trip during the school break isn't unusual, but not many choose to go to a third-world country for six days.

Seton Catholic HS Senior Jordan Wilson stuffed a large luggage bag filled with toys, as she and five other students prepared to leave for a service trip to Haiti.

"I'd rather go on a mission trip any day over anything in the world," Wilson said, "It's absolutely the most amazing thing in the world anyone could ever do."

Six students and two teachers filled suitcases full of toys and medical supplies as part of a six day service trip to Haiti where they'll visit two orphanages and a medical clinic.

The trip is Wilson's third service trip, her second to Haiti.

"To see a little girl get a brand new stuffed animal she wouldn't be able to get, or getting a match box car for a little boy is probably the best feeling I could ever get," she said.

Art teacher Maureen Schmidt is going for the first time and she thinks the experience will leave a mark on her as much as the students.

"For teenagers and for all of us really, we need to realize and think beyond ourselves," Schmidt said.

Junior Jamie Farrell has never gone so far to help someone else.

"I think it's going to be a really different experience than I've had before in my life," Farrell said.

For Wilson, she tries to lead by example and expects first-timers to be a little more humble when they get back.

"Even if you don't have as much as your friends have and you don't get the new pair of Uggs for Christmas." she said, "It is way more than those kids will ever get."

The group will also help restore a widow's home.

Medical supplies were donated by UHS and the rest of the toys and books were donated privately through the Seton community.

They will fly out from JFK International Airport in New York City Friday morning and return on New Year's Eve.
