Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Giving back to those less fortunate is the idea behind a class project at Vestal Middle School called "A Case for Smiles."

Eighth grade students in the school's Family & Consumer Science classes stitched together pillow cases to donate to children living with cancer.

Their teacher said the project gives the students a chance to see how it feels to give back.

"When told about the little kids that have cancer and some kids that have been in the hospital many, many times, they really have a soft spot for them," said Family & Consumer Science Teacher, Patricia Jackson.

The pillow cases will be given to an organization called ConKerr Cancer, which will then distribute them to children's hospitals in both Syracuse and Philadelphia.
