Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Local businesses pull out special recipes from their playbooks for Super Bowl Sunday.
Brozzetti's Pizza owner Aldo Brozzetti is rolling out all the stops for the Superbowl, which is one of the busiest times of the year -- every year.
"Hundreds of everything," Brozzetti said, "Hundreds of wings, hundreds of sheets."
He said his shop has spent more than a week preparing for Sunday.
"Homemade sausage we do, and we slice all our pepperoni. We grind all our own cheese. We make all our own sauce. Obviously, we make all our own homemade dough," Brozzetti said.
Brozzetti first started cooking pizza at the shop with his parents when he was 9, more than 60 years ago.
He said he and his team can handle the gameday-rush.
"When these are both flowing, it's like a pizza coming out every minute and a half," Brozzetti said, standing in front of his two massive ovens.
At Wegmans in Johnson City, Executive Chef Keith Daviau has been seeing high sales on gameday essentials all week.
"We see a run on prepared food items," Daviau said. "We see a run on certainly chips and salsa, different munchies, and our home made guacamole."
At Baked Euphoria in Endwell, owner Bonni Phelps focuses her recipes this time of year on what she thinks men will like.
"With the Super Bowl," Phelps said. "We tend to do the guy-oriented desserts. Our cupcakes tend do be more hearty."
Phelp's trick plays include a Guinness-soaked cupcake and another maple-bacon combo topped with bacon bits.
"We've already sold out of the first batch," she said. "We've had to do a second one already today."
From cookies to cupcakes, she and others are finding inspiration from the pigskin.
