(WBNG Binghamton) After a long wait for Verizon customers, the rush is on for the iPhone. Verizon Wireless will finally unleash its iPhone 4 in stores bright and early Thursday. Now, they're gearing up for what they say will be their biggest day of sales.

"I'm the typical person who says they just want an iPhone because its an iPhone," says Rebecca Salko, who got her iPhone on Monday.

This makes the 21 year old from Johnson City one of the first people in Broome County to get her hands on a Verizon Wireless iPhone 4.

"I got it, set it up within a half hour, it was really easy. I actually had to stop at the Verizon store and work out my plan and I handed the guy the phone and he said, 'This is the first iPhone I've ever touched.' I was like 'oh my goodness' I was really excited," Salko explains.

She pre-ordered the phone online last week, but the phone isn't even in stores yet.

At the Verizon Wireless store in Vestal, it's pretty quiet right now. But starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, that will all change, as the rush will be on for the iPhone.

"This is it. This is the granddaddy of them all," says Ken Rustine, Store Manager of the Verizon Wireless store on the Vestal Parkway.

The ropes are already set up outside the store for the big crowd expected.

"We open the doors at 7 a.m. Everyone will be here early to be prepped and ready. Once those doors open, we're ready to do whatever we have to do to take care of all of our customers," Rustine says.

It's such a hot item that there's not even a iPhone on display in the store yet. And Rustine will not say how many the store has in stock ready to sell.

"We have a good quantity on hand and once we run out of those, we can also order them for our customers, and have them shipped directly to their homes," he says.

Verizon is expecting record sales Thursday nationwide, as people rush to satisfy their iPhone desires.

The iPhone had previously been exclusive to AT&T.

A 16GB will cost $199, while a 32 GB is $299, all with a 2-year contract.

All Verizon stores will open at 7 a.m. Thursday.
