Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The first benefit for Trinity's Heart Foundation was held at Sunset Lanes Saturday afternoon.

The fundraiser was for Trinity Hranek's Family and for research to try to cure Congenital Heart Disease.

Trinity was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Turner's Syndrome when she was born. She died in October 2013, she was seven weeks old.

For her parents, this event was about raising awareness for the disease and passing mandates for screenings.

"It determines if they do have a heart condition, because the valve between the two heart chambers closes three to 24 hours after the child is born," said Christopher Hranek.

Hranek said he wanted to raise $3,000 from this benefit, and he wants to make it an annual event.
