(WBNG Binghamton) It's the Strengthening Teacher & Leader Effectiveness 2 grant or STLE2.
The program will run for 18 months. It's nearly $900,000 in federal funding to support training programs for teachers and administrators.
Chenango Valley School District, Harpursville School District, Johnson City Central School District, Owego-Apalachin Central School District, Windsor Central School District, and Broome Tioga BOCES are all apart of the training program.
BOCES is taking the lead to oversee the grant and the training.
Each district that applied chose a group of qualified teachers.
There are three different levels to the training. Each training session will last for 6 months.
Teachers will focus on different levels of effective teaching, while principals will strongly focus on leadership and mentoring programs.
"What you're going to see is stronger teaching, student engagement, the questioning is going to get better, it's going to be really outcome based," said Race to the Top Network Coordinator Barb Phillips said.
The next training session for teachers will be taking place on March 18th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Johnson City Learning Center.
