Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Vestal boys soccer team looks to take it's first step toward a state championship on Saturday at the Soccer Hall of Fame.
The Golden Bears finished the sectional season undefeated and having only allowed 2 goals all season.
One of those goals was to Union-Endicott in the sectional final, which Vestal won 2 to 1.
But players and coaches say they have to improve their effort, if they want to advance in the state playoffs.
"We're definitely going to have to improve because this game is not our best of the season so we have a whole week of practicing. Definitely going to have to have high intensity everyday in practice to win the next game," says senior Robbie Hoover.
"We've got to improve on reacting to pressure a lot better and making sure when the other team does put pressure on us, we maintain our style of play and not get caught up in what the other team wants to do," says head coach Jim Murphy.
Vestal was eliminated in the first round of the state playoffs last season.
