(WBNG Binghamton) The Boston community, along with communities around the world, can start to heal after a week of terror.
A Vestal native has been in the center of the activity, experiencing a roller coaster of emotions.
Mikey Metaxas is a resident of Watertown, Mass.
He says his house is only about half a mile away from where Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured.
Metaxas said the atmosphere in Watertown Saturday was very friendly.
"Today was fantastic, everyone was friendly. Strangers would come up to you and tell you how awesome everything is," he said.
It's an atmosphere that sharply contrasts the one in town Friday night.
"All day, the SWAT team, FBI, cops, they came into my house. SWAT came into my house. We had people in the backyard all day. I spent most of my day just watching the news, looking out my window. It was pretty scary."
Although Metaxas said it was a scary scene, he said police made him feel safe.
"The law enforcement here was fantastic. They were on top of it. There were so many cops protecting us. It was awesome."
