Car hits utility pole

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A portion of Riverside Drive was closed early Tuesday after a car hit a utility pole.

The crash happened around 12:45 a.m., near West End Avenue.

Binghamton Police said a car ran into the pole, snapping and heavily damaging it.

As a result, the westbound lane of Riverside Drive between Briar Court and West End Avenue was shut down until 7:45 a.m. while NYSEG replaced the pole.

There were no power outages in the area as a result of the accident.

No injuries were reported. The driver received a ticket for deviating from a direct course, according to police.
