This year’s rainfall has been trendy. We broke records for the amount of precipitation in February and March, then we proceeded to have below average rainfall in April, May, and June. Many of us ended up 3-6 inches below average for those three months. Then July came. We made up that deficit by picking up 3-6 inches over the last 30 days. Some of it was heavy. Especially on July 24th. Flash Flood Warnings were issued for several counties that day. The worst weather occurred in Delaware and northern Sullivan Counties. Flooding washed out roads near Margaretville, Colchester, and Andes. Doppler Radar estimated nearly 8 inches of rain in spots, which may have been a touch high. Here’s a sampling of some measured rainfall totals in Delaware County.
ARKVILLE 6.15
NEW KINGSTON 6.15
MARGARETVILLE 3.94
ROXBURY 3.20
