The forecast for Sunday into Monday sure is interesting. How interesting will depend on your point of view. Models began to indicate a Nor'easter a couple days ago. They continue to forecast this scenario. I feel fairly confident that there will be a significant weather maker in some way shape or form.
Many details are lacking, and continue to lead to uncertainty in the forecast. Some models bring us into the warm sector of the storm, giving us different precipitation types across the viewing area. Others bring enough cold air for snow. There appears to be enough precipitation from this system to give us significant amounts of snow, if it is cold enough.
One thing that is lacking, is an area of high pressure to our northwest. Usually for the optimal setup, this is what we'd like to see. A high to our northwest would help keep cold air in place, and allow for a better chance for snow.
Some aspects of this storm reminds me of what happened last year, where the storm went just far enough west to get us a wintry mix and rain. I'm hoping for a bit of a different trend this year...
The best chance for snow at this point would be along and west of I-81. Timing is still an issue, but I think the precipitation will hold off until noon Sunday. Best advice... check back frequently over the weekend. I'm sure there will be changes...
