April can sometimes be just as two-faced as March. We can see snow and cold, but we can also see some pretty toasty temperatures.

We’ll start with the averages. At the start of the month the average high is 47 degrees, by the end of the month, highs average 59 degrees. Average low temperatures start off at 30, and finish the month at 41 degrees. The first day our average temperature goes above the freezing mark is April 9th. Average snowfall for the month is 4.7 inches, and average precipitation is 3.49 inches.

The records during the month of April are next. The coldest temperature was 9 degrees set on the 7th in 1982. The hottest 88 set on the 28th in 1990. If you’ll remember back one year, we enjoyed a very warm April, so warm that it made the warmest April on record! The monthly average temperature in 2008 was 49.7 degrees. The coldest April was 37 degrees set in 1975. The wettest April was in 1983 where 8.57 inches was measured. The driest was in 2001, when only .73 inches was measured. The snowiest April on record was 1983, when 22.9 inches of snow fell (2007 is second on the list with 17.1 inches). There have been numerous times that April has only seen a trace of snowfall.
