I took a dive into the record books to see how we have faired weatherwise on Easter. Of course Easter Sunday varies from year to year, and can vary as early as the 23rd of March to as late as April 23rd. As you can imagine, our weather can have quite a variation!
First the averages…
The average high is 54, while the average low is 35. About half of the Easter’s since 1952 have had some precipitation.
Now the records…
The coldest high of 28 degrees occurred on March 29th, 1970. The coldest low of 9 degrees occurred March 29th, 1959. The hottest Easter occurred April 18th, 1976, when the mercury hit 85! The warmest low was 58 degrees on April 22, 1973. The snowiest Easter occurred on April 18th, 1965 when 7.1 inches fell (3 inches of snow fell the day before). The wettest appears to be March 26th, 1978, when three quarters of an inch fell.
Extra Tidbits...
25 percent of the days had highs recorded in the 30s or lower, 25 percent in the 40s, 31 percent in the 50s, less than 1 percent in the 60s, 18 percent were 70 degrees or higher
