Temperatures are expected to soar into the 80s this weekend! So I decided to dig into the record books to find some fun facts about April warmth.

We saw one day in April 2008 that hit 80, then you have to go back to April of 2004 to find another day in April that was 80 or above, and once in 2003. So it seems that 80s in April are not all that common.

In 2002, we managed to have a heat wave of sorts, when we had 4 days in a row of 80s.

17th-86

18th-82

19th-83

This was not the warmest stretch of 4 days in April. In 1990 we did a little better.

26th-83

27th-85

28th-88

A 3-4 day stretch of 80 degree temperatures or better has occurred only 6 times since 1952. It happened in 1954, 1962, 1976, 1985, 1990, and 2002.

The warmest April temperature was 88 degrees on the 28th of April in 1990.

We haven’t seen the 80 degree mark since September 14th, and haven’t seen the 85 degree mark since September 5th.
