As expected, another round of record-breaking temperatures affected the Twin Tiers yesterday...sending the mercury soaring to the highest levels we have ever seen during the month of April! The official high temperature at the Binghamton Airport was 89°F....the highest temperature ever observed in April and just as hight as any temperature ever observed in May! Valley locations were even hotter with lower to middle 90s common throughout the region.
Some specific high temperatures included:
98°F in Ithaca (city)
95°F in Johnson City
95°F in Sidney
94°F in Canisteo
93°F in Endicott

Temperatures are already rising quickly this morning, but the core of the hottest air has shifted to our east so a repeat performance of yesterday's record-setting heat is not anticipated at this time. Still, many locations will be topping out in the mid to upper 80s prior to the arrival of a cold front this afternoon. Today's record high temperature of 88°F at the Binghamton Airport is not expected to be tied or broken.
