What A Mild March It Has Been Thus Far!

Every once in a while Mother Nature treats us to some unseasonable weather. Such has been the case for the month of March. I broke down some of the numbers and I was surprised at both how long this stretch has lasted and how mild it has been. Perhaps you might be just as surprised!

The 30 year average high temperature during the period from March 6th through March 21st is 39 degrees. The average high temperature this year for the same period has been 53 degrees. That is 14 degrees above average and would be hard to duplicate any time of the year.

Furthermore, the last time our daily high temperature was below average was way back on March 5th. We even broke a record during this mild stretch. The high temperature on March 21st was 66 degrees. This broke the old record of 62 degrees set back in 1979.

Looking at the average daily temperature for the month, the average should be just shy of 31 degrees. The average daily temperature this March has been just under 40 degrees and that, to date is almost 10 degrees above normal.

We have 10 more days left this month, and things will change. Either way, I do not think anyone can argue that it’s been a nice stretch of mild weather.
