The Tioga County 911 Dispatcher dropped the tones shortly after 10:00 p.m., then dispatched the Candor Fire Department to a barn fire on "Upper Fairfield Road...cross roads of Elmer Hill Rd and Candor Hill Rd". I stuffed my feet into my sneakers and headed out the door. My camera was already in the car and the fire was just a few miles from my home. I arrived at the same time as the first volunteer Fireman from Candor. The barn was fully engulfed in flames. Taking care to park away from the fire scene, and out of the way of the firefighters and apparatus, I grabbed my camera and headed down the road on foot. More volunteers and fire trucks from Candor and Weltonville arrived and went right to work. The barn was a total loss. The fire dept was dispatched to a rekindle later in the night.
