This was about 5PM at the corner of Loder Ave. and E. Main St. in Endicott, NY this evening

My Commute Home

During my commute home tonight I had to do a lot of evasive driving because as this photo illustrates many streets around the southern tier were flooded. This photo shows the corner of Loder Ave. and E. Main St. in Endicott. The rain was coming down so hard at times that the sewers were unable to keep up, and some were plugged with leaves. Turning down Nanticoke Ave. I found the underpass blocked off, turning down E. Union Street to head over to Duane had my truck going through water too deep to proceed, so I had to head over to the Page Street crossing to get to my home in West Corners.
I found that many people were pushing their luck by driving through these flooded streets, I also found that many drivers failed to have their headlights on as is required by law in NYS. The problem with passing down flooded streets is you can't see what's under the water...could be a manhole cover popped off, and you can get stuck or severely damage your car.
I made it home safely and on higher ground.
More rain is coming down this evening, and many motorists are taking foolish chances. I recommend they slow down and give space between you and the car in front of you. Flooding is still an issue as of 10:00 PM tonight.
