FORMER WALTON NATIVE PUBLISHES FIRST BOOK.
Dr. Ryan F. Schmit, former Walton native, has recently published his first book, The Beautiful Dismal Woods: Short Stories from the Adirondacks published by Clay Bridges Publishing and Communications of Troy, Ohio. You can meet Dr. Schmit at Borders, Southside Mall, in Oneonta, New York on Saturday, October 16th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a book signing.
Dr. Ryan Schmit was born in Walton, New York and raised in Gouverneur, New York. Ryan is the grandson of the late Nellie and Victor Danowski of Walton and son of Kathleen and Frank Schmit of Otego. He developed his love of the outdoors while growing up and exploring the beautiful Adirondacks. He attended SUNY Morrisville, where he earned AAS in Engineering Science. He also attended Clarkson University, earning a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and continued on to earn his MS and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. For the past seven years he has worked in the Air Vehicles Directorate within the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
