This morning will be the last time this old Icon will stand here at the old Link building in Hillcrest. The aged, asbestos ridden (now abated) structure is coming down, and with it are some memories of multiple generations of workers who passed by this turnstile to work at the place where they built flight simulators for the US military, and the original home of the "Blue Box" built by Ed Link himself. I, myself, worked here then, and have returned to work here for a newer company, BW Elliott Manufacturing. My father and an uncle worked in this building.
While it is sad to see it go, it makes way for progress for its new owners, and the business they hope to grow here.
I will always cherish the memories of this place, and the family company that once stood here and employed thousands.
