The Broome County Environmental Management Council (EMC) invites amateur photographers and local high school students to submit photographs for the 2011 Joyce K.L. Smith Environmental Photography Show & Competition.
This is the 15th year of the competition which aims to raise awareness about the beauty of Broome County’s natural and cultural environment. Entrants may submit up to three (3) photographs for consideration in five (5) categories: wildlife, plant life, natural landscape, cultural landscape, and people in action. A panel of professionals will select one (1) winner and several runners-up in each category as well as special recognition for the best submission from a local high school student.
The entry deadline is Wednesday, March 16. Prizes will be provided by our co-sponsors, Silver Image Photographics, Garland Gallery, Che Bella! Fine Framing, and Beveled Edge Frame Shop. Winners and those receiving honorable mention will be exhibited at the Broome County Library during throughout May and June. An opening reception and awards ceremony, open to the public, will be held Wednesday, May 11 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Library.
