Tyler and I met at very young ages in our Kindergarten class. We grew up in a very small school and had several classes together. We became very good friends over the years and even went to our Junior and Senior proms together. During our Senior year of high school we started dating and continued during our college years. We started talking about marriage our first year of college and when it might happen. In the Spring of 2010 we started looking at rings and possible places to have our ceremony. Since we both were starting to plan the wedding, there really wasn’t going to be a surprise of Tyler asking the question. So I told him to just make how and when he would do it a complete surprise. Tyler was all for it and had apparently been planning and arranging things for months, but wanted to it be perfect for me. Tyler, his family, and I were going away for a weekend to visit his sister in October so he brought the ring with him. His plan was to take me on a romantic walk and ask me by the water in Boston. We went out to dinner and were having a great time, but Tyler didn’t feel like the moment was right so he kept the ring in his pocket!!! A few weeks later he started forming another idea. Our very close family friend’s had a death in the family and my family wanted to spend some extra time with them. My mom suggested we take them out to dinner so my parents, Tyler, our friends, and myself went out. When we were driving back to their house Tyler and I saw a shooting start so I made my wish. Tyler asked what it was and I just smiled back at him. He said, “Oh I think I know what it is.” When we got back to their house Tyler said that someone had built a memorial at the pond and asked if I would like to go and see it. So Tyler and I started hiking up the hill to the pond. We were just casually talking and laughing, until we get to the top of the hill. Surrounding the pond (which by the way is about 2 acres) were beautifully lit tiki torches (Our siblings and Tyler had spent the day arranging them). Tyler then took both my hands and said, “We aren’t really here to see a memorial.” He then got down on one knee, took out the ring, said how much he loved me, and asked if I would marry him!! I was so surprised and excited!! I started crying and jumping, it was just so beautiful. Tyler then sat me down on the bench and said, “It isn't over yet.” And that was when the fireworks started going off over the pond. We had our own private show. After the fireworks were finished our friends and family came up with some champagne to celebrate with us!! There were lots of hugs, kisses, and even a few toasts. My wish came true that night and on July 8th, 2011 Tyler and I will finally become man and wife!!
