I took this photo @ the new boat launch at the Mouth of the River whare it meets the Owego creek..Does anybody know what this is really called .??? I herd that they are a protected species???pleas reply...P.S. I let it go free after the photo shoot..

i just found the same thing crawling across my living room floor..the 2nd one in 20 years...i live in NB Canada..i also set it free

thanks to all for the feedback..,I did find this on the n.y.s.c...it is a Yellow spotted Salimander..Not the larger endangered ,Tiger Salimander it can grow to over a foot long .the Yellow Spotted Salimander can grow to 12 inches.
