Joshua Perry, an executive board member of the "Zombie Student Association (ZSA)" at Binghamton University led a team of 20 club members at BU's annual Relay for Life. The club raised over $2500 by the event and has since increased their total to $2760. The ZSA came in second overall in fundraising for this years event.
For those who are unaware, the goal of Relay for Life is to raise money for cancer research through the American Cancer Association. While some fundraising activities take place during the 12 (or 24 hour), over-night event much of the fundraising takes place leading up to it, or even afterward. In fact, teams are still allowed to raise money for this year's BU event until August 31st.
The club's ambitious initial goal of $2400 was set when Josh Perry volunteered up to 16 inches of hair at $150 an inch for donation. The donation took place Wednesday night, and resulted in two pony-tails each 17 inches long, which will be given to Locks of Love.
If you would like to support the ZSA in their fundraising goals, you can follow the link below to their Relay for Life page and make a donation. Any donations on their behalf will be greatly appreciated. http://main.acsevents.org/goto/ZSA
