My mom, Betty Houghtalen, who will be 80 yrs old at the end of this May, has been though a lot. My mom and dad lost everything in the Flood of 2006. In June of 2007, she then found out that one of her daughter had breast cancer, that daughter is a surivor, her husband of 60 years is a prostate cancer surivor. In 2008 she laid her son in law to rest and later that year found out her oldest daughter was in stage 4 of cancer. She laid to rest her oldest daughter in 2009, something that no mother should have to do, but though all this she remained strong. Even with her bad knees, she now walks in the American Cancer Society's Rely for Life, helping to raise money for others to have another birthday. I pround to call her my mother, and look up to her with very much respect.
