Makayla, 11 and Ajax, 3

Literally A Ton of Love

Ajax is a three year old Clydesdale gelding who has found love and companionship in the form of my eleven year old cousin, Makayla. Weighing nearly a ton, Ajax stands just under 17hh (or 5'8"). He's considered 'small' for his breed. Makayla and Ajax spend long hours like this. He loves nothing more than to be hugged and snuggled. Despite his size, he has an extremely gentle nature. We generally do not even need to put a halter or lead rope on him because he prefers to stay in the yard, eating the grass of our lawn and being spoiled by my family.

About nine months ago, my family and I started 'A TON OF LOVE DRAFT HORSE RESCUE' in Guilford, NY. Having always loved draft horses, especially Clydesdales and Shires, we decided to focus our efforts on those gentle giants. However, all horses in need of rescue or sanctuary are welcome here, regardless of size. We have assisted in the rescue of dozens of horses who were neglected, abused or unwanted. We have pulled several from auctions where they would have been sold to slaughter for human consumption in Canada or Mexico.

The community around us has been amazing. Our neighbors both close and far are always dropping off supplies, hay, feed, or just stopping over to pet the horses. Their support, along with our Facebook friends, have allowed our work to continue. We welcome visitors, especially on the weekends.

I have visited this farm. The farm was all mud, no grass, the horses were watered in cat litter bins and plastic bins, and there only shade was in 3 feet of manure. One horse that was pulled from there was on a scale of 0-1 with lice. This is fraud.

What a fake, liar, scammer this woman is? She defrauded hundreds of people with her ploy to support herself and not work. She will have to get a job like everyone else and work for a living now. I hope she is not allowed to own animals again!!.

A photo if an 11 year old child with no protective gear for herself, or tack for the horse. In NY State, all equestrians under the age of 14 are required by law to wear an approved safety helmet. Tsk tsk tsk...

Thanx for caring about the Horsies. Soon they will be more valuable than cars, especially at fuel prices of today. Like Homer Simpson Said, at today's prices we can't afford not to have a horse ;) Like the movie "The Postman" the post car travel

Admire the work you are doing for the horses. I am just concerned that showing a pic of your niece lying on the back of a halterless horse of any age is not a good idea no matter how quiet and gentle they are. No offense first.
