The portion of Plymouth Street in Norwich, NY between Pleasant Street and the city line is crumbling to pieces. It is used by many vehicles every day including hundreds of eighteen-wheelers and huge dump trucks...most of which seem to be travelling over the speed limit.
I emailed the mayor of Norwich complaining and asking for repaving of the street. I received a reply from him that included the following: "I have a Bill in Albany making Plymouth, Pleasant and Rexford an arterial highway RT 23. What that will do is make us eligible for State funding from the DOT...Hopefully construction will start spring 2012."
That is all very well; but at the rate the street is deteriorating, it may become impassible by then. The city could at least repair the most dangerous potholes and broken areas. There are other streets in the city with only local traffic that have been repaved recently.
