We have a pair of red bellied woodpeckers that frequent our feeder. Once their hatchlings have fledged they bring them to the feeder. However, the young ones don't seem to know how(or care)to feed themselves. Instead they sit on the tree branch and make a gosh awful screeching call until Dad brings some seeds and stuffs them into the youngster's beak. On this particular day there was only one fledgling, often there are 2 or 3, and it takes quite a while to fill them up--parents with teenagers to feed will understand.
