Putting Up Yhe Big Top

Tent Troupe at Highland Park July 5th

Children will remember to Reduce, Recycle and Re-Use after watching the Saint Luke Lutheran Tent Troupe perform at Highland Park on July 5th with its show “Once Upon A Time....”
Included in the program are familiar old and new folk tales, fables, stories and songs from around the world to delight the young and young at heart..

“This is the 41st year, and we started because our youth minister pastor had a great love for music, theater and circus. At that time, there were a lot of troupes, but today we are the only traveling summer tent theater,” according to Drama Director Roney Shawe .

The troupe, which hails from Silver Spring, Md., will be performing interactive sing-alongs under the Big Top at Highland Park like the “Hokey Pokey” and “Peanut Butter and Jelly,” and stories that included the Chinese folktale, “Tiki Tiki Tembo,” and “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.
The group is composed of seven high school students and 10 staffers who are either college age or older. In addition to the 1:45 p.m. show, a family show will be presented at 7:45 p.m.

The 7:45pm family entertainment will be Robert Fulghum’s “ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN." This heartwarming, charming, funny and touching production includes stories from five of Robert Fulghum’s books. These stories are about all of us and will rekindle memories from our own lives and the truths we learned from our kindergarten teachers.

The "Troupe" is sponsored locally by Our Saviour Lutheran Church with support from the Town of Union Dept. of Parks and Recreation.
