Just hangin' out

Jaws of the Chenango River

While walking the riverbank this evening I spotted this large Snapping turtle sunning himself(?) on the driftwood. The large beast stayed there for at least two hours. It was still there after I had had dinner at a local fast food joint. His presence may explain why there have been so few young ducks on the river this year.
