Tonight was the first night back for Owego Mello-Dears Bingo games since closing for the summer. Everyone was glad to be able to get back together, but had no idea the surprise they had in store for them until they walked in. Over the last month or so, many of the Mello-Dear Alumni, began the process of updating the hall's look. Everything from tearing up carpet and stripping floors to purchasing new curtains. There are a lot more improvements yet to be made. The Bingo players liked the improvements and said it made a big difference in how bright the room looked. The nice part, was having many of the Mello-Dears present tonight to see the players reactions, and get their praise. Mello-Dears just celebrated their 50th anniversary and a 1st year marching again after 28 years. They have been invited to play at a show in Canada next summer, so fund raising projects like BINGO are up and running.
