Honey Buns Candor Flood - Pavillion & Business Sign

Honey Buns Route 96 Candor Flood 2011

I woke up Thursday morning to notice standing water in my own backyard, something that has NEVER happened. When I went outside, Route 96 in front of my home was blocked by a front loader and emergency cones, and cars lined the edge of the road with people walking around. I stepped out to the road to see that Route 96A looking south was under water!! I was amazed. The road was submerged from in front of the old Honey Buns Restaurant down around the curve near the Catatonk Golf Course and beyond what I could see. Sadly, the people who currently live in the home that was behind Honey Buns were under water. These three pictures show the family clearing out the home by boat, the original pavilion and new 2 car garage that was in the process of being built submerged and route 96A under water. Route 96 had not since Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972. (More photos to follow.)

moved out of the park. Can't see spot, but neighbor contriques missed the water, then maybe my place would have too. Thanks contriques for letting me see the pictures way up here in Ak. Praying for neighbors pain and loss. Feel your pain.
