The Sweethearts of the Southern tier not only came back to perform this year on their 50th anniversary, but were well into refurbishing the Mello-Dear Bingo Hall on Central Ave in Owego, when the flood hit. We just had our first bingo night last Tuesday. We were so lucky that no water damage happened upstairs where we stripped and waxed floors, hung new curtains etc. The sad thing is all of our Drums were down in the cellar. That was submerged entirely. The "Dears" as a group are going in full speed tomorrow 9.13.11 to rescue those drums and see what can be saved. We are intending to also use the hall for our neighbors, so we can serve some food and make clothing available so neighbors can come for a clean change of clothes if they need it. Anyone who is not already helping or being helped recover from the flood, if you have been wondering what you can do to help. Come make friends and lend a hand. 107 Central Ave, Owego Tomorrow 10am.
