Amazing weather, sundogs over Triangle, NY at dawn. I submitted some of these photos earlier as a rainbow,but have just figured out what they were of. One of the previous photos shows the right dog as a rainbow This is a phenomenon known as parahelia, or mock suns or sundogs. It seems to be quite a rare thing, only happening when conditions are perfect. It was 5 below and just as the sun rose. When it started, there were 3 strong rainbow columns that looked like fire in the woods to the east of our house. It was amazing.
