Flood hugs support comfort

The second name for the "Mello-Dears" over their 30 years of marching, was "The Sweethearts of the Southern Tier". They have proven that the title is still deserved. Many (maybe a majority) Alumni themselves have been vicitms of the flooding, or helping their family members who were. They still want to be able to help, and are donating items to the Bingo hall distribution center in Owego. Those who were not affected by flooding are trying to help out and serve hot food and coffee to those in the village. The Bingo Hall, has turned into more of a "Comfort Center" than distribution center. Visitors (flood victims, donors and clean up crews alike )are welcomed by open tables to sit at, and relax while they eat and warm up. Getting away from the clean-up and demolition environments. Many willingly share their experiences and in return take away hugs and words of support. There is hot coffee, hot soups, sandwiches and snacks being served. Clothing, personal care items, non perishable food, and cleaning supplies are abundantly being donated.
