I am contacting as my FEMA inspector recommended I do. I am a renter who lost everything in the flood. My FEMA inspector designated my apartment as a complete loss. When I contacted him to tell him that FEMA is only giving me two months rental assistance and told me to apply for a loan he became very angry. My FEMA inspector told me to contact the media and share my story in hopes more help will come my way. He says there is money but the government is arguing and this is all about politics. He says I am eligible for immediate financial assistance as I lost everything and cannot return to my home for at least six months maybe longer. FEMA also did not cover the loss of mine and my son's medical equipment, which was entered by my FEMA inspector. FEMA is telling me that my inspector never entered that information and I will have to appeal this-more paperwork. I know this is not true because my FEMA inspector already had the information in his computer about our medical equipment before we even met. I am a single mother working at a non-profit organization serving the developmentally disabled. My son has Autism and other mental health diagnoses and this is how FEMA is helping us start over again. How can I afford a loan when I lost everything? Please HELP!!!
Respectfully, Valerie A. Cunningham
