Today was just the beginning in what is hopefully a long term project for the Mello-Dears. After just coming back together this past summer, after more than 25 years, a majority of it's members experienced flood damage. As a show of solidarity and "sisterhood" they are making and giving quilts they make to those in their extended families and communities. This is a way for the women to stay in touch after reconnecting and making new friendships. A Mello-Dear Alumni living in Florida and those in other states are also cutting quilt squares and mailing them to the group so that they can connect again and help give a little comfort to those affected.
"Sweetheart Comfort Quilts" kick off
