On Saturday morning a Village PD Vehicle pulled in our driveway. The officer said they thought they had found something that belonged to us. They thought they had found one of our black ducks that had migrated to the 2 years ago during a flood. This duck was found hiding in the Court Yard of The Senior Citizen Housing. When they brought the duck to us, we found that it was not one of ours, but a wild duck that had an injury to its bill and a slight grazing of one wing. On checking further we noticed it was not a breed from anywhere around here. Researching on the internet, we found that it is a White Winged Scoter duck. These ducks during nesting season are found inb Alaska and Northern Canada. During the Fall and Winter they mirgrate to the northern Alantic and Pacific sea coastlines as well as the northern Great Lakes and Hudson Bay. How he ended up here is a good question. He is now safely recouperating at a wildlife rescue and rehab.
