Driving over 38B in Newark Valley, my son and I noticed a bright light next to the moon. 3 hours later it was still there. Could this be a satelite?
Satelite or Star?

That "star" is actually the planet Jupiter. With a telescope or good binoculars, you can actually see the 4 larger moons around it.

I saw and photographed the same thing. I often see PLANETS. I just assumed that's what it was. Venus and Jupiter are often visible. Next time (tonight) see if it's in the same place. If it does NOT twinkle but stays bright, it's a planet.
