I am PROUD beyond words of my veteran

My daughter was stationed in Basra, Iraq with the 501st Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit in December 2010. Like her fellow soldiers she had to leave behind family, in her case two boys, her husband and our extended family. When her unit got word of the severity of the flooding here and she realized it had directly impacted her grandparents' and cousin's homes she asked for emergency leave to assist our families. She was on the plane that night and has been an incredible source of support and (wo)man-power since she hit US soil. This has made a huge difference in my family's recoveries, both physically and emotionally. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to MY veteran, who not only served her country overseas without hesitation, but to also acknowledge the sacrifice she made when she had to leave her unit behind to help her family here at home. The "501st" is her other family, and it was hard for her to come home ahead of them. I am glad to report her unit is back home now. THANK YOU Staff Sargeant Jennifer Raub-Scott. Love, Mom
