"Sweetheart Quilters" who began with a few Mello-Dear Alums in Owego,is a group that recycles donated clothing and fabric into quilts for flood victims. Today they surprised Fred Ford, who was a flood victim (with two homes as well as the Bingo hall) with their first full sized quilt and matching pillows. Fred's worked tirelessly on bringing the flooded homes and the Bingo hall back to life, usually with Chrissy the mascot close behind. Bingo halted over the summer and was restarted for one night before the flood hit. Many regular Bingo players ask every week when Bingo will be back. With one of the two heaters now installed, they are getting closer. While not being used for Bingo, the "Sweetheart Quilters" meet once each week to work on quilts. Anyone who wants to help by working with the quilters or donating items can come to the Bingo Hall at 107 Central Ave in Owego, Tuesdays at 11am or contact "Sweetheart Quilters" on facebook.
